I am starting to think I should have purchased a Macbook Pro instead of my iMac. Its been a month. Do I have to sell it myself, or can I exchange it at the Apple store where I bought it?

You can contact them and ask if its possible. They may allow it even though the return period has expired.

If you cannot then and you decided you still want a different mac. You can sell it on Craigslist. The advantages of CR is that its a face to face transaction with cash (don't use paypal or ship it). You can try ebay which gives your sale a wider audience but you have to contend with fees and shipping/paypal.
