Returns when ordering online

So I have 14 days of "buyer's remorse" time to change my mind. Do those 14 days begin 1) when I place my order, 2) when my MacBook Pro ships, or 3) when I receive my MacBook Pro?

I hope it's #3, but I'm thinking maybe it's #2?

I think it should be #3 only because it's the only logical one. How else can you decide if you don't physically have it.

Of course this is just imo, you should confirm with Apple.

If the item is returnable and you send it back to us unopened in the original box, Apple will offer you a refund based on your original method of payment. I know here in the UK the legal right to return starts the day after delivery. I'm not sure if you have that in the US.

Just scroll to the bottom of the page on the Apple Store of your country and the terms link will be there. They are not that hard to read. They do very by country and there may a legal right as well.
