reusing a qps firewire cdrom case

Hi,
So I've taken my qps cd-r drive out of the firewire case, I've been trying to use the case for a harddrive and it's not working. I'm using a 5.2gb western digital 35200 caviar drive, kinda old I think pre 1997 if I remember correctly. Are there any drive compatibility problems with the oxford 911 chipset that's in my case? anyone have experience with this? I've tried all jumper settings, master, slave, cable select, and single.

I tried the same thing a while back (Que CDRW case, 40 GB Maxtor HD). I tried everything and started reading up about it on the internet, and the short of it was, that you have to get a universal IDE to FW case, the Q will only work with drives that they use.



I hope someone can prove me wrong.
