This is the first topic in a long time I've tried to hunt down and couldn't come up with a definitive answer. So let's hear it MacRumors community! I'm sure a collection of people far more savvy than I tackled this.

The factory SSD from the 2013 Mac Pro trashcan comes with quite a hefty little heatsink attached. I didn't realize that when I went from the 256gb original one to a 1tb pull from another machine that they actually differed in size; the 1tb one is quite a bit wider.

Has anyone come across fitment issues with putting these in an external enclosure and reusing them? The size difference has me stumped at the moment and I can't find a surefire enclosure solution to reuse that narrower, factory 256gb blade.

Any enclosure suggestions that folks have purchased and like? Any issues with heat buildup, cooling, or fitment due to the heatsink?
