This may be a long shot, but it's an idle thought I had.
I know that the no new-world ROM Macs "officially" have a serial port, although most use the protocol internally for the modem(I know that at least at one time it was possible to buy a board that replaces the modem and functions as a serial port). I also know that the Rev. A iMacs use a connector for the IR receiver on the front that looks a whole lot like a 9-pin serial port connector.
Is it possible on one of these iMacs to disconnect the IR receiver, and connect a Localtalk box or a serial port printer?
