I have a 867mhz G4 12 PB that won't eject my Ubuntu 6.06 disc. I installed Ubuntu, ran it some, and was going to try something else off the disc (I forget what now), so I put it back in, finished, and wanted to release the disc. It ejected it from the desktop, but never came out of the drive. I tried booting into OS X via firewire from my other mac, it booted fine, showed the disc, and I tried ejecting. No luck. It ejected it off the screen, waiting 2-3 seconds, then showed up again. I also tried ejecting by holding down the trackpad button upon startup, no beans. Anyone have an idea whats going on? Is my drive cooked?

Got it, someone told me how to eject via Open Firmware and it worked.

Have you tried to eject it via firmware?

Hold Control-Command-Option-Eject Button; this will shut down your computer. Turn the power on with the power button and hold Command-Option-O-F -- this will boot you into open firmware. Now type eject cd and wait until the CD pops out. Type mac-boot and you are ready to rock!
