Reveal/Uncover/List Items in Menu Bar

Is there a way to reveal menu bar items that are hidden by an application's menu options? I'm amazed that I don't see any posts anywhere on how to do this. It is either very easy or a silly question. There are lots of posts on how to add items, I just want to see the ones that are there.

I've taken to opening apps that have short menu lists so that I can check my Mozy status.
