The new look of sidebars, now looking like floating palettes (although you cannot freely drag them), really makes no sense to me. I also feel with that extra margins on top, left and bottom, it just eats more space for nothing and makes everything just look more cluttered. (Why do I need to see the content scrolling through that tiny margin between the left edge of the window and the left edge of the sidebar?)

Is there perhaps any (hidden) setting that will revert the look & feel of sidebars to act more like in Sequoia and earlier macOS versions?

I am thinking about some accessibility feature like "reduce transparency" or perhaps a hidden plist entry, any ideas?

It's noticeably toned down in b4.
I don't think "toned down" goes far enough.

Based completely on how it looks (since I have not even installed it because it looks so bad), the entire OS should be scrapped and they should just implement the actual features and stick with the GUI as it is in Sequoia until they can come up with something useable.

The side panels make no sense. Even worse, the rounded corners on every window have a ridiculously huge radius, which forces UI changes that make even less efficient use of the space. Open up pages, which still uses the old format, and see what I mean. And messages is a total disaster.

This cycle is the first time I legit hated everything they have done.
