Hi MacRumours,

I stupidly reset my password through recovery partition and clicked 'Create new keychain' on login. Now my iMessage/emails won't work ... is there any simple way I can set the old keychain back to being the default so that all my previously saved passwords will work again?

Thank you!

Do you have the old keychain perhaps backed up somewhere?

You would need the file login.keychain from the folder below from your backup. ~ is your username.

Code:
~/Library/Keychains/

Good evening Weaselboy, thank you for your response. I tried re-adding the login.keychain file through Keychain Access, however upon restart it kicked up the good old keychain password error. So I gave up, deleted all of the folders from Keychains in Library and restarted - only a few things to reactivate for iMessage etc. My own stupid fault so I won't be making that mistake again. So all fixed I suppose, nothing more to do.

Again I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Best wishes!

Glad you got fixed up. Keychain for sure is not well documented and very confusing. :)
