Hello guys,
Once again, I had the chance to play around with this speaker, and I thought I'd share my thoughts here as this is likely going to be considered by those of you looking to better the sound of your iPhone/iPad
The design is simple but nice. It feels great to the touch. The buttons are also good, although not extremely visible.
As per features, this thing rocks a 6W driver that is surprisingly loud for its size. Now, because this thing is smaller than a soda can, it does tend to sound a little bit tiny (canny?) - However, after a minute of listening your ear will quickly get used to the type of sound that it produces and it won't by any means fell like an old radio.
Because this thing is "waterproof" (IX7), I decided to take it with me to the swimming pool. Now, I did not submerge it, but I'm sure it did get splashed more than once. That peace of minds is an excellent plus, in my opinion.
Now, perhaps the worst part, is the it still uses microUSB. Between my Mac's USB C, my iPhone's lightning, and my speaker's microUSB, I'm packing an unnecessary amount of cables everywhere I go. Hopefully accessory/gadget makers will start implementing USB C in the near future.
While I mostly used it over bluetooth, it is worth mentioning that this speaker does have a 3.5mm jack for those of you who prefer it. I did not use it (my iPhone doesn't have one), but it's there. And it's also sealed together with the microUSB port for that waterproofing.
In summary, I think it's a very good speaker, mainly when you consider its size. It really is tiny, and for this size, I doubt it is realistically possible to get any better sound. At $35~ (at the time of this review), I feel like it's a very solid option if you're in the market for a tiny, water-resistant, wireless speaker.
