Today, I received a Uintah sleeve from ColcaSac for my 15” MacBook Pro. Shipping times were excellent and all my emails were replied in a prompt and respectful manner. I do not do reviews often, but this company and their products warrant one. To get things started, I am a student who has taken a liking for the design of Apple products and because of this, my expectations for accessories are also very high. I believe I speak for most of the community here that accessories should contain a high level of detail and quality to complement our electronics. On to the review!

The case I received is a Uintah sleeve. They also make them in other sizes such as the 13” and 17”. Mine is a 15”. The packaging is exquisite and unique. Most case manufacturers just ship you a sleeve with some cardboard that tells you about the product, but ColcaSac took it to another level by providing you with an organic bag imprinted with their company’s mission and values. The cases are handmade right here in the USA in Salt Lake City, Utah which is a HUGE plus for supporting my country.

The case is made of 20oz of hemp canvas. The lining is extremely soft and reminds me of fleece jackets, keeping your MacBook safe and warm, so to speak. I am a lover of the fine details of the products I own. The sleeve’s stitching is solid and the embroidered ColcaSac logo is a bonus for me. The MacBook fits snugly and the exterior pocket has room for my charger and Magic Mouse. It is a very tight fit at first, but will loosen over time.

It is a really cool looking case and I can’t stop touching the lining because it’s soft and fluffy! I want to wear it as a hat! For $40, I think it is definitely worth the purchase for anyone that wants a case to protect your computer from scratches and dings. It also fits with a Speck case on!

Some cons that I noticed is the velcro that is used to hold the flap down. It is quite possible that it will deteriorate, but I think CoclaSac may repair it if this happens to be the case.

ColcaSac backs all their products with a guarantee that if it doesn't meet your expectations, just send it back for a replacement, refund, or repair. No questions asked.

Pros
  • Made in the USA
  • Unique look compared to other market offerings
  • Made of natural materials
  • Case exterior is very tough and lining is soft but protecting
  • Quality of stitching and logos is excellent
  • Exterior pocket included to store charger or other accessories

Cons
  • Very tight fit at first, but may loosen up
  • Lining may degrade over time
  • Velcro may also deteriorate in strength over time

will it fit with a spec case on?

Yes

good review, not sure i like velcro for securing it closed, how stong is the velcro can you hold it upside down without the weight of the velrco coming detached?

It's strong now. I just shook it fairly hard over the top of my bed and it didn't budge at all. But, it may deteriorate over time with usage.

Hi!

We've never had any complaint over the last 6 years about the velcro becoming ineffective.

Thank you rockyroad55 for this great and honest review!

I purchased this because of this thread and it arrived on Saturday. Very pleased with it so far. Fit and finish is excellent and shipping was four-day fast (Utah to Southern California).
It IS tight but I see it loosening up a bit over time.

I'd purchase again and if I didn't already have a sweet setup for my iPad would consider this pouch for it too.

Hey man, thanks for taking time to post the review, I appreciate it. Will definitely look into it in the future, as I like the idea of it. Cheers!
