The Slimline is a great slim case for the price (9 Dollar included Shipping). I bought mine here: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Slimline-Generation-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00CW1N6CY

I had this email sent to me by Poetic Cases earlier on the 6th:

“Dear Poetic Customers,
Thank you for purchasing the Poetic Slimline Case for Apple iPad Air, in all colors. Unfortunately there is no sleeping and waking, nor does the magnetic closure function on this early batch of shipments. Our later shipments will have these both features included and functional, which will arrive in our warehouse on November 6th. We will automatically send out free replacements to anyone who received these early batches before November 8th with 2 days of processing.

This early version of the case fits the iPad Air like a glow, and you can keep it as a spare one for free.
Please sit down, and relax while you wait for our later version to arrive at your door step while the early version acts as a temporary case to protect your valuable investment, Apples iPad Air.

Please leave feedback and commentary after you receive the later version of this case. Thank you for choosing Poetic Cases

All the Best,
Customer Care Team”

Grammar and spelling errors aside, I thought this was a really nice gesture from the company. While I’m not sure how the initial cases were shipped without the full features, I am glad to be able to get a replacement in the coming week.

Guess What ! I received my replacement one today 11/12th. Thanks :) Poetic! The replacement one is Tri-Fold other than 4-Fold style, which I like it even better. Below is Pro and Con that I conclude on this case:

Pro:

-it fits like a glove. Installation is a quick and easy snap-on. Once in place, the case doesn’t creak and the iPad is held firmly in place.
- Very slim and very light. The package was listed as weighing 4 ounces, but it feels even lighter than that. The iPad Air is still a very light tablet in this case.
- The case material. I love leather and the pleather material front and back of the case is texture and feels good in my hands. It’s like holding a nice leather-bound book.
- The “smart cover.” - work very well every time to wake the machine up and make it sleep while i close it.

Con:

There is really not much Con on this case. The only thing I can think off it is not a Bulky case, and it won't be very protective your device for heavy drop.

Does the case have a magnet on the back so that when you fold it over in portrait mode it stays open and doesn't flap around?

Thanks in advance

Purchased the same case as a backup when it was being promoted for $0.01 but am currently using the Apple Smart Case.

A few notes
  • the Poetic faux "leather" feels very very cheap although I didn't have high expectations based on it's price point anyway.
  • the front cover is initially very resistant to being bent compared to the smart case, though perhaps it will ease up with use
  • other plastics and materials are reflective of its low price
  • the chrome poetic logo looks tacky (subjective)
As an emergency backup that I will likely never use it's perfect and well worth the penny that it cost.

Getting tired of every damn cheap case worth getting, being out of stock for a week.

Just looking for a stop gap till nicer ones come out and this is the third case that said it had some in stock then changed to unavailable till next week in cart

Screwage.

This is the very case that has caught my eye. Its disappointing to see it a third of the price in the US in comparison to here in the UK however. Its $9.95 delivered over there and £21.95 delivered in the UK! Or the equivalent of $34.94. I know they have to import, but I could order it and wait 3 weeks and save quite a bit of money. I think I'll stick with my felt lined bag for now and wait for this case to either come down in price or assess what other cases are being launched in the coming weeks.

Looks a lovely slim case though :)

Nice Job... ;)

I bought my first Slimline of $.01, and then bought a second for $9.90 shipped. It does not feel cheap at all, and I like that access to the volume buttons etc is cut out, rather than having to press through some sort of plastic material. I had planned on removing the Poetic logo, but it's fine.

I received Version 1 of the case during the Air launch. I previously posted on another thread that the magnets did activate the sleep/awake function. However, the magnets were not strong enough to keep the cover closed on the Air and thus any tilting of the unit caused the cover to flap open. Nonetheless I really liked the case as the cover had four section folds which provided me consistency with the old iPad smart cover. I did not reach out to Poetic for a replacement as a result.

Today I received a replacement case, KUDOS to Poetic, fantastic customer service.

Version 2 of the case is what you see in the pics in the OP. The faux leather material is exact same as previous version and only difference is the cover which is now a three-section fold. The magnets in the cover are stronger in this version. Tilting the unit does not cause it to flap open. Sleep/awake function works well. I like to fold the cover such that the faux leather part is on the outside so dirt does not gather on the felt lining inside the cover. The magnets are able to hold the triangle-fold well though it may take a couple or few tries before it will hold as the cover is new. Also, the magnets are strong enough that opening the cover all the way to the back, i.e. like a paperback, will hold it in place. Highly recommend this case.

Just received this in white for the iPad air and really like it. Works well and very slim design. I'm usually a nut trying to find the right case for me but I think I hit the jackpot quickly with this case.

I also ordered the Kavaj leather case from Amazon which looks great as well.

Do these cases (I have one for my Mini1 and just ordered one for my Mini2) still smell like rotting meat left out in the summer sun? Eventually the smell goes away but I had to keep it in the garage for the first few days because it made me nauseous.

For the price they are great but the smell ...... P.U. :p

Just got mine today - fits great and doesn't add much bulk to the Air. I noticed no odor at all with mine. It doesn't feel quite as nice as the Incipio feather I had on my iPad3, but I'm fine with it.

One thing to note is that the Poetic Logo can be scraped off. Can still see a blank impression, but barely noticeable.

Thanks OP...because of your review on how light this case is, I went ahead and ordered one. I bought 2 other cases from Amazon that I'll be sending back because even though they were nice cases they were too heavy. I won't get mine until next week.

Now is there VAT charged on top of that or does that price already include VAT?

That price includes VAT at £21.95 or $34.94..... It's still rubbish considering our US friends are getting them for around $10 delivered. I'm sure they'll come down in price with time. By then though, i'll probably find a better case :)
