What I have here for review is a set of earbuds called "The Wire 3-Button Mic" by a company called Nixon. The company is mainly known for their watches but have gotten into the audio side of things now. Their company is all about "making the little things better" and I think they have done a good job at that with these earbuds I am reviewing today.
My first impression of them is that the build quality and detail is fantastic. These earbuds, as you'd expect, have a 3 button mic on them and it works great with my MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S. The 3 button mic buttons are rubberized and I imagine using them working out or in a sweaty environment would be no problem whatsoever. My only gripe with the 3 button mic is the placement. It is placed closer to the earbud rather than closer to the part of the cord where the 2 earbuds split. I haven't had any issues with it but I can see a potential issue if you wore the earbuds under your shirt. It may catch on your collar when you turn your head to the side. The cord also comes with a little clip to clip the cord to your shirt, and it is metal which I think is a really cool touch. Where the cord splits to the earbuds is also encased in a metal casing along with the actual plug. Really cool touches, Nixon!
Now on to the sound quality. I have listened to a wide variety of musical genres with these so far and they sound fantastic for their price point. My initial thought is that they are slightly warm sounding but nothing to complain about too much. The bass is a little on the heavier side, which I prefer so they sound great to me. Nothing like beats by dre though. In my honest opinion, they are very well balanced and tough to beat at their price.
As any earbuds, these come with 3 different sized tips to fit any user. They have a pretty cool little carrying case too!
