After many delays in Seek getting authorization to sell their iOS thermal camera (apparently due to MFI/Lighting approval from Apple) the cameras are finally shipping.
$199 gets you a pretty slick package. Free software, thermal camera with lightning connector that mounts just under the phone.
Nice packaging setup, easy to open box. REALLY cool part is it comes all ready to go with a well padded, likely waterproof locking case (photos below). Very impressive for the price and a nice touch.
This thing is very cool. I already found a couple spots in my walls I am going to investigate for missing or displaced insulation. Sweeping the walls I found a couple random locations that were darker purple (cooler) than the rest! Similarly it is easy to find what outlet covers have air leaks (purple vs red) or where the front door is leaking air and needs some extra weatherstripping.
Refresh rate takes a little getting use to, but that is the nature of thermal imaging as does the low pixel count. But for $200 this thing is incredibly expensive when the prior state of the art fro FLIR was >$1k.
Would buy again in a heartbeat. Going to be a lot of fun to play with and will come in handy for troubleshooting hot circuit breakers, leaky walls/doors/windows and overall fun.
