Over the weekend, I picked up the black and blue version of Thule's new Atmos X3 case for the 6 Plus. Previously, I had been using the Tech21 Classic Tactical case and had loved its texture and overall hand feel, but had not been a huge fan of its fit, which was looser than I would have preferred. (Tech21 got the fit of its cases perfectly for the iPhone 6, but they seem to have gotten it slightly off for the 6 Plus cases, in my opinion. They are just ever so slightly loose. Still good cases, but not the perfect fit I am used to from Tech21).

So how is the Thule Atmos X3 for the 6 Plus? Fabulous. The case feels rock solid on the phone, and its polycarbonate construction makes it pretty stiff, for those of you that are looking for a stiffer case to forestall bending. It is just as grippy as the Tech21 Tactical--the black TPE rubber on the sides and back gives it a very good grip, but it is still easy to slide it in and out of pockets and such. Rated for more than a 6 foot drop, the case has 'shock-stop' corners (some sort of special construction is viewable from the inside of the case, but is not visible from the outside), and the sides of the case bow out ever so slightly in the middle of the case---one would guess this is some sort of drop protection thing as well. I don't find it to be obtrusive, though. The buttons work well, and the cutouts are well placed, but the lightning cutout won't fit some third party cables. Other than that, I really don't have anything negative to say about the case. I love the way it feels in my hand, and I think it looks very sharp on my Space Grey iPhone.
