I recently upgraded to a late13-rMBP, previous to that I had a mid-11 air that had moshi protection on the palm guard, trackpad, keyboard cover and wrapsol skin. I did not want to spend $25 on the palmguard and $25 on a keyboard skin so I went on amazon and browsed around looking for a cheaper solution. I came across UPPERCASE product line, now I have never heard of them up until searching on amazon and I am not affiliated with the company at all. I'd like to share my experiences with the company's products thus far.
I purchased the keyboard protector first because I care about my products and I am used to typing on a keyboard with a skin cover. Now I personally hold moshi's skin as a #1 in my book and honestly the UPPERCASE is a step ahead for half the cost. I am going to do some comparisons of the products and then update later with pictures. To make matters easier MM = moshi and UC = uppercase.
MM; +fits keyboard nicely, no bubbled up areas like the super cheap 99cent ones.
MM; -$24.99
MM; -thick, this is good and bad, for me it really "filtered" the sound
MM; -cut a little large so a lip hangs over the keyboard area.
MM; -comes in contact with screen leaving grease imprints on screen that need to be cleaned off (due to thickness)
UC; +$9
UC; +fits keyboard nicely, no bubbled up areas
UC; +does not hang over like MM, sits down inside keyboard recessed area
UC; -if you sneeze you will blow it right off, SOLUTION; don't sneeze on your $1500 computer
UC; +very thin VERY thin. they actually make an even thinner ver for a few extra dollars that is even nicer.
UC; +very little screen contact, with the even thinner ver it does not touch the screen at all (i also have the thinner one)
those are some of the major key points to me which leads me to recommend this for anyone who wants to protect their rMBP from food or beverage spills.
if you are someone that is new to keyboard protecters it will take some adjusting to as it changes the feel of the keys. they are much softer now. and still have a nice response click.
I'm very happy with the purchase and its well worth 10/10. purchase it here; http://www.amazon.com/UPPERCASE-Ult...9652&sr=8-7&keywords=uppercase+macbook+retina
moving onto the palm guard, again had a moshi one first.
now this purchase is a no brainer if you wear rings or watches. protect that delicate finish of your macbook TRUST ME.
MM; +blends nicely with computer finish
MM; -trackpad cover as well as palm guard covers are THICK i thought this to be good at first but it does interfere with the trackpad until you "wear" the area down some.
MM; -$24.99
MM; +can be reapplied but be careful the smallest hair that gets stuck on the adhesive side effects the stickiness (common sense tho right?)
MM; -feels sort of like a plastic sticker
MM; +easy to apply
UC; +blends nicely with computer finish
UC; +THIN. half as thin as moshi.
UC; -/+ trackpad sensitivity decreased with cover at first then its not as bad, the reason for + is UC actually includes a note in the package about the trackpad which was nice. (i personally leave it on because i HATE trackpad wear, it makes the computer look like cheap trash)
UC; +CHEAP! $12.98
UC; +has a different feel/finish then moshi, actually mimics the feel of the MBP (has a light brush feel)
UC; +easy to apply.
I highly recommend this as a purchase as well. very good price and protects pretty good.
can be purchased @ http://www.amazon.com/UPPERCASE-Pal...9260&sr=8-4&keywords=uppercase+macbook+retina
overall i think its pretty clear what company's products are the winners here. moshi has a long track record of good products and uppercase is a newer company to this space however uppercase has 2 winning products on their hands here at almost half the cost of moshi.
my nod goes to uppercase by a large margin simply because the cost and quality are better then its more expensive competition.
if you have any questions ill try to answer them. pics will be coming soon!
