Hi,

Recently my 2 year old JVC mini DV camcorder broke, it wasn't a fancy JVC camera but it did the trick.
After having a look round the internet for a new replacement I came across the Canon XM2, from the specs I can tell its got pretty much all the new stuff on it, but I can't find many reviews on this camera on respectable, trustworthy sites.
If any of you guys have this camera could you give your opinion on the pros and cons and if its worth £1400.
Another thing that plays on my mind is that should I dish out this cash on this camera when this is the 'year of HD', eg. would there be much difference in picture quality between this camera and HD and should I wait.

I haven't been looking at video cameras for a long time so I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks

The XM2 is the PAL brother of the NTSC GL2. The GL2 is a good little camera, so I can only assume the XM2 is just as good. You might want to check out the Canon forums over at dvinfo.net. I'm sure there are XM2 users that can give you a real world account of the camera.

They don't have any user reviews yet, but I've always found the reviews at PriceGrabber.com to be helpful. What kind of things are you taping? HD might be a waste of money, depending on what you're shooting and how long you're willing to wait for decent, consumer prices.
