When can we expect to see the first reviews of the new iphone 3g???

i would say around the 14th or 15th for a detailed review but possibly the 11th.
im going away to Amble on the Friday afternoon so i may write a quick review on the morning before i go.

define 'review'? There will be blog reviews from around 8:01am on 11/07/08

'rel' reviews will start at about 8:05

The first reviews will come out of Australia, as the 11th starts first there.

That means that it's looking good for iTunes 7.7 on the 10th because it'll be the 11th in AU and people will need to be able to activate and upgrade their phones.

Will they not sniff your IP address and restrict downloads on this basis?

Apple have never done so in the past to my knowledge. Wouldn't be a lot of point - you can't give a piece of software to an entire country of people and not expect it to be on rapidshare within about 10 minutes..

Heck they couldn't even keep the 7.6.3 beta and 7.7 prerelease out of peoples hands, even with 7.7 having 'Apple internal use only' on its menu!

Good news - I'll be d/loading the update on Thursday then ;)

Expect Mossberg and Pogue to weigh in on July 10th.

allthingsd.com won't confirm when Mossberg's will be, but suffice to say it should be prior to the 11th. He normally writes them the night before apparently too. Why review on a Thursday? Can't quite work out his normal day he publishes - that might be a factor - if he has a normal weekly slot in the WSJ, the review might be then.

I was thinking you allowed for an extra four months.

(US/UK differences in writing the date)

You guys and your crazy date syntax!!! I always get confused online! Stop it! You still use feet and inches so why not use the 'correct' date format :p
