I noticed on the new product pages that small changes were made to the lightning cable that ships with the iPhone 8 / X.

- Cable contacts are silver instead of gold
- There's a thin bumper directly below the lightning connector
- Housing seems bigger, and some sizing has been adjusted

Pretty minor, but seeing how this forum likes digging into the finer details, I thought I'd post this. I also don't recall any previous adjustments to the lightning cable since it launched in 2012!

I just hope the changes weren't made to reduce cost.

I can't think of a situation where tin-plated contacts were better than gold-plated.

The cables that came with the iPhone 7 had increased thickness compared to previous devices.
