Mac Pro 8 Core 2009 EMC: 2314 Model: A1289
A couple of years ago I was given a Mac Pro from a workplace that was moving and dumping a lot of stuff that was no longer used. I stored it until this week I decided to see if it even worked. I plugged it in and pressed the power switch, it turned on, made the chiming sound and I heard the hard drives whir into life. However when I tried to connect it to my Macbook Pro via firewire cable it didn't show up. I tried turning off and on and tried a few different firewire cables but no connection. Each time I turned it on it was fine and I got the chime sound and heard the drives whirring.
I decided to open the side panel for a look inside. When I opened it a loose SSD fell out. I've no idea if it had been in one of the drive bays or just sitting loose - it did have a bit of double sided adhesive tape so I'm assuming it might have been jury rigged into one of the drive positions, or it might have just been floating around doing nothing.
There were 2 3tb Western drives properly connected to their bays. There are 4 DIMMs installed however I noticed they were not in the slots recommend by Apple so I moved them to those positions. After that basic stuff I put the side panel back on & tried to turn the machine on again but now I don't get any chime or any response at all. Thinking it might have been something that I did I put the DIMMs back where they had been but still no luck. I can't imagine it's the power supply as I never touched that, just the DIMMs and also I tried putting some of the hard drives in different bays.
I'm hoping for some advice on how I can get the machine to power up again, and assuming that can be achieved, how to get it to connect. I can post photos of the interior if that is of any use.

What graphics card does it have installed? How about unplugging the power cord to reset SMC and power supply? If you can get it powered back up...you mention connecting w/ FireWire cable...are you also holding down the 'T' key for Target Disk Mode? If you aren't, none of its disks will show up on the MacBook.

It has an ATI Radeon card, not sure of which model but it's red and black. I didn't try starting in Target mode initially, which I kick myself for now. I have unplugged the power cord a few times with no luck.
