I pre-order the Rhinoshield Crashguard bumper in October as I really liked the Apple bumper on my iPhone 4 back in the day and wanted the same look with my iPhone X. Rhinoshield had good reviews and the bumper looks simple and nice. It arrived last week but has been quite a disappointment. Notable issues are:

- it's very bulky, adds another centimeter or so to the width of the phone and is quite thick and uncomfortable to use (funny that the box says "Doesn't add bulk")
- the volume and power buttons are very loose. You gently push one edge of a button and the other edge would stick out.
- although they are loose, the buttons were hard to press, especially the power button.
- the mute switch cutout was misaligned
- the bottom part of the case (speaker, lightning port etc) wasn't quite straight

The worst part was trying to take this thing off. I watched the tutorial on the Rhinoshield website and it shows someone pushing the top right edge from the back and the case would pop out. This didn't work at all for me. I was pushing so hard I was scared I would break my phone. It just wouldn't come off no matter which side I tried. Ended up having to use toothpicks on one side as leverage to be able to finally get a corner out, luckily the phone wasn't damaged.

Definitely returning the case as it seemed like a cheap ebay case and wasn't worth the price tag. I know others here have ordered it, hope your experience is better!

Have you tried their mod case? I preordered their mod case for my x, but still haven’t received it. About to cancel my order and get something else, as no one appears to have a clue when I’ll get the case I ordered.

No, I haven't - sorry. The crashguard was the first Rhinoshield case I bought.

I have a playproof for my 8 and its a snug fit but its literally the only case that I know will protect the glass back.

I struggled taking this case off so you weren't the only one. I couldn't believe how snug it was. I'm using the Apple Silicone case for the time being.

Does the crashguard a lot more "bulk" than the silicone case?

I use a silicon case now, would like to go for a bumper. But don't want to add more bulk to the phone..

for those who have this on your X, how far over the top of the screen does the edge of the bumper extend?

I'm guessing it won't be compatible with E2E glass protectors?

Why do they make it so easy on this video?

It is easy as long as you follow their most recent video on YouTube for the iPhone X Crashguard. Note that installation ends AND removal begins at the bottom right corner (screen facing up). Instructions in the box and in older Crashguard videos suggest removing the case from the top corners, which I think is impossible for anyone to do.

For a case that claims such drop protection, I think 0.21 inches of added width/length might be a justifiable tradeoff. However, the Apple leather case I bought is making this Crashguard look bad in terms of look and feel. I’m fine with its slicker surface and dimensions for drop protection but the mushy side button is driving me up the wall. Might consider returning it unless they can correct it.

Is it possible for you to post a picture with the rhinoshield and a picture with the Apple leather case for comparison?

Crashguard adds ~.10in/2.5mm to all four sides. Thickness is exactly 10mm (phone itself is 7.7mm). I’m not worried about dimensions, loose buttons or the slightly off centered mute switch cutout (was probably intentional for the volume buttons) but that hard-to-press side button is a deal breaker (given its utilization with no home button).

Sorry for the terrible lighting, taken off my iPad.

Thank you very much!!!
I think I’m going to order one ... local we ship has them in stock. Only thing I have to decide: white or black ... have a white silicone case ;-)

I've been using the Mod Case on my iPhone X and I also got them for my whole family because I'm tired of fixing broken screens! lol After about a month of use, I just posted a full review as well as a quick and easy fix for the power button issue a lot of people have been having. Check it out if you'd like:

Not sure exactly what it is, but the Mod case just wasn't for me, just doesn't feel and look right. I've also tried the thanotech which is pretty nice, but feels sharp around the edges. Picked up these bumpers for a pretty great price and LOVE them. Thin, form fitting, responsive buttons, I'd highly recommend them! https://www.grfxp.com/pages/iphone-x-bumpers
