RIAA gets lawsuit

The maker of the most popular file-sharing network is turning the tables on record labels even as they have to drop a lawsuit against one suspected music pirate.

Sharman Networks -- the company behind Kazaa -- is suing entertainment companies for copyright infringement.

The federal lawsuit filed this week accuses the companies of using unauthorized versions of Kazaa software in their efforts to snoop out users.

I felt this article was interesting.

Well...

There isn't 'KaZaA' but there are apps that connect to the network... FastTrack so yeah its really no chance.

The Recording Industry Association of America called Sharman's "newfound admiration for the importance of copyright law" ironic and "self-serving.

If you want to convict somebody else of breaking the rules, you need to play by the rules yourself.

After all, if the RIAA wants to support copyright law, shouldn't they also respect KaZaA's copyright as well? And how did the RIAA get the unauthorized copy of KaZaA in the first place? My money's on a file-sharing app just 'cause of the bitter irony.

they were probably using kazaa to download mp3s because even they dont want to buy them!

lol. this probably will drag on for a while.

How crazy is it that I live on money from the RIAA and even I am on the site of the peer-to-peer group?

BTW... don't go RIAA, go Indie!

:D

I'm indie now since the Warner Brothers nightmare, but my personal income comes from royalties from past work for RIAA labels.
