I can't believe how ridiculously expensive so many of the transparent back film for the iPad 2 are. $30 for a piece of transparent plastic? Now, really!

Anyone with luck in finding thin film back covers for the iPad 2 closer to $10?

NOTE: I'm talking about thin film back covers (like a screen protector, but for the back), and not those plastic hard cover shells. I guess in today's lingo, this would be called a "skin"?

Have you tried HHI?

HHI? Care to provide a link?

I'd love to upload a pic and get a custom film, but $30 is too much. $20 is pricey, but more reasonable. $10 and I'm sold....even if I can't do custom.

HHI refers to HandHeld Items.

I've already tried them and they don't have anything for the back in the form of think film but they do for the front. I'm not concerned about protecting the front at all. I'd like to get film backing for the back.

BTW, HHI is a great place to get inexpensive accessories for our, well, handheld gadgets.

Thanks, I'll give them some consideration. I did find a place yesterday I could upload my own pic and have a custom (back only) for $20.

To the OP. This is the best price that I've found so far. They are called best skins ever. $18.99 gets you front and back, or just the back for $16.99.

Sad that I did not find this any sooner, as I paid $37 for my full body skin from XO skins. :(

Just a FYI, XO skins advertises to not have the orange peel effect. I do not think this holds true, as the skin I installed from XO skins does have slight orange peel effects. Although there is the orange peel effect, it is still minimal, and much better then others that I've seen. Plus, there's a life time warranty. GL on your search. :)

Edit: Here's the link:

PhillyD, thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Can you explain to me what is the "orange peel effect"? Don't think I've heard of it.

Surface isn't perfectly smooth, it's a bit "bumpy" like an orange peel. Easy to see if you look at it horizontally.

I heard the term originally used to describe a paint job on a car. Lower quality paint jobs have an orange peel effect.

You really get what you pay for to be honest. You can go cheap and have it not last, or you can spend a little more for a quality product. I recommend Ghost Armor. Good luck either way!

You definitely get what you pay for. I'd recommend the SGP ultra matte kit. It has a matte rear wetinstall skin, that looks and feels and fits perfect. The front skin is an ultra clear static cling, best I've ever seen or used.

i use a transparent duck tape all over the back, it gives good grip and it's not bad. i can put my iPad almost vertical position on my palm without me gripping it.

and ive never seen the back of my iPad 2 for a long long day, so the uglyness isn't not bothering me at all. not that ugly though if you put it carefully.

I love my JustStickIt skin. They're made by a Canadian company. HERE is their eBay store link. The price is very reasonable for what you get. As a bonus, it uses a 3M dry-application adhesive material. I have the leather one myself.

As far as it being an 'international' company, the 14.95 Canadian dollar purchase was translated by PayPal to $15.25 US. My bank also charged a $0.25 international transaction 'penalty.' So $15.50 with no tax and free worldwide shipping and I have a skin that I love. No peeling, and it adds a great amount of friction to the iPad.

Got any pics of that leather one? Is it just a vinyl skin with a leather picture?

Pics are attached. I was surprised, but it actually 'feels' like leather. It's pretty thin, but definitely has the texture of the real thing.
