rigging a speaker to an EMac

My grandson is a guitarist.His equipment is a EMac.,an amp,a Blue Snowball Usb Mic and a Mackie monitor.He wants to record himself playing but does not know how to set up his equipment.If he runs a cable from the earphone jack to the speaker he cannot mute the speaker while recording a second track.If the mic is plugged in the speaker wont sound.Please tell me what
accessories to buy so he can use garage band and record without problems.
