Britain.
Now my MacBook has sold - I'm in the market for an iPhone.

Now my questions are:

1. Can the UK iPhone be unlocked?
1B. If No, can it be unlocked via Downgrading it to 1.1.1?

2. If No to both of the above, can anyone recommend any good US Sellers on eBay?

Thanks in advance MR Peeps. :)

i know that theres is some Unlocked iPhones on ebay that i think have bought them in the US and brought them over and unlocked them.

The UK iPhone can be downgraded to 1.1.1, but that doesn't downgrade the baseband firmware - so the phone is still not unlockable.
However, jailbreaking 1.1.2 does allow you to use any o2 SIM card, pay as you go or contract.

I'm so tempted to just go and buy one tomorrow and use it on Pay As You Go.. but I'm travelling around the world for the next 6 months, so O2 Pay As You Go charges will be astronomical.. plus I have an amazing T-Mobile contract I want to keep running.

I hope this isn't the un-unlockable iPhone.
