when right clicking you get a menu of options. i recently installed photoshop and now when i click on an image there's too many choices. is there a way to edit what shows up in tha right click menus?

Have a look at post #9 in this thread. There is a folder of droplets that you need to hide from the "Open with" menu. Zipping the folder (and deleting the originals) achieves this and allows you to keep them right where they need to be in case you ever need them.

Since we're on the subject, I might as well ask...
Besides the photoshop programs, I have many duplicate apps on that list also (see attachment). Why is this?

To fix this, you'll need to rebuild your LaunchServices database. Here is how to do it using Terminal. I believe that the tweaking app Main Menu can do this through a simple GUI option.
