When I right click on any file in OS X to "open with" a cetain program I have over a dozen, sometimes two dozen, apps that show up as choices. Windows was at least smart about this, images couldn't open with say iChat or EYE TV...OS X doesn't seem to really catch onto this. Is there a way I can reduce the size of the options listed for files to be "opened with".
Hopefully this makes some sense.

Do you have Photoshop installed? They put in a bunch of droplets that can be eliminated. See this thread. Just rebuilding your Launch Services might help.

I have noticed that I have multiples of the same app when I right click > open with. I went into my applications folder and there isn't multiples in there. any ideas on how to fix this? I'm using a macbookpro with OS x 10.6.4
