hi,

some time ago I got myself this cable:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-8M-6FT-Mini...ing_Apple_Mac_Accessories&hash=item2c54c7af40

for my i7 macbook pro.

I used/use it to connect it to my Onkyo 707 av receiver/ panasonic th-42pz85 plasma

The first time I did it it worked flawlessly. As far as I can remember, I just plugged it in and it worked straight away together with sound.

It used to work the weeks after I got the cable but now I seem to have problems getting it work.

Last week was the last time I got it to work after playing around with it for more than 15min. Nothing really worked but suddenly putting my macbook into 'clamshell' mode somehow did the job. Today I tried it again for more than 30min but no success. In my title Im asking for the right order because I read somewhere that it is important to have the macbook connected to your equipment first and then turn everything on.

How do you do it? Is your macbook turned on when connecting it to your av receiver or tv?

I start thinking that my cable might be broken but I also doubt it because the cable was mainly lying around in my drawers without doing anything to it
Is there a way to find out?
Also when connecting my mac to my av receiver it usually shows that there is some connection between the two. If there wasnt it would clearly show in the display 'No Signal'

thanks
