Right speaker doesnt work on iphone 3g?

hi, i just got a 16 gig 3g and everytime i use the speaker phone, itunes, or anything, only the left speaker seems to work. i cover it up and the sound on the left grill gets muffled. but, if i cover up the right grill only, nothing changes. the sound is like i didnt cover it up.

is this normal?
