I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. I have still my 2011 21,5" iMac, i5 2,5ghz model, 8 gb of RAM. No SSD... I have never used one on my computer. My iMac still work as intended, but of course i would like more speed and... snappiness 😄

Just ordered M1 Macbook, cheapest one (256 gb ssd, 8 gb of RAM). I assume this is going to be a good update from my 2011 iMac? For 4K video editing, photo editing, graphic design. I am not heaviest user, mind you. Not a pc gamer either.

You might notice a slight difference 🤣

I've got a 2012 i5 iMac with external SSD. The M1 is in a different league entirely.

I'll be coming from a Late 2013 i5 21.5" iMac, are you using the MacBook Air on Mac mini? I'm not a heavy user, but do like to play the odd game here and there from steam

I just came from a 15" Early 2013 retina MBP with a 2.7Ghz i7 and 16 gb of ram with a 512 SSD. You'd think I'd want another Pro for my workflow but honestly the base $999 MacBook Air is more than capable of doing all the graphic design, video editing, and photo editing work I need to do in a daily basis. The performance difference is literally night and day. The vast majority of the apps I'm running as well are all apple silicon so the battery life is incredible. As soon as I saw the benchmarks I knew I was fine.

I'm planning on ditching the Adobe Creative Suite as well this month so I'll be saving close to $60 a month and there's great alternatives already for Apple Silicon. In less than 12 months after trading in my old Mac this move will pay for itself.
