There's a way to convert .mp3 to .m4r via iTunes. Basically you can convert any song you want into a ringtone for your iPhone. A small warning: the limit for .m4r files (your ringtone) is 40 seconds long.

It's been a while since I used an iPhone so I don't remember the precise procedure, but I thought I'd share this possible method with you.
