Not cool.

iPhone's default music player keeps its pointer on the last song played, so when one goes back to the player, one can resume where left off. Nothing earth shattering there.

EXCEPT when the phone rings and plays my ringtone, the stupid Music Player's pointer resets to my ringtone as if ringtone is one of the songs! MESS UP.

I renamed my .AAC ringtone to .M4r and added to iTunes as music, it synced fine and works and appears under ringtone but not under music, as expected.

So how do I fix this annoyance?

I'd completely remove it from your device and iTunes. Then put it back in iTunes and it should show up under 'Ringtones' not 'Music'. Then sync it back like you normally would.
