Ringtone not showing up

I took a audio file and sliced it to be 24 secs and saved it as mp3 (on Windows platform) I opened that file on Mac iTunes and then saved that to AAC type. Now, I opened the file info and updated it to be m4r from m4a. However, the desired result of this file now showing up in my ringtones is not happening. Can you PLEASE help? Thanks

I have iPhone 3G and the latest version of iTues.

import into itunes firts then sync it over over drag it from itunes i had a similar problem were draggng from outside of itunes created 15 coppies (or so) of one ringtone moving it over from itunes seemed to have fixed the problem for me maybe it will work for you
