If you have a mac, use GarageBand.

It is so simple, just cut up the song to the length you want, click share, and then click send to iTunes as a Ringtone.

Could not be easier.

Enjoy.

Quicktime 10

It is free and easy to use. Open Quicktime 10, open audio file, select edit then trim, trim your ringtone to 30 seconds or less, select share, save as an iPhone option, then rename the file extension to m4r and then drag into itunes and you are done. This works great and with almost any format.

You can do this directly in iTunes as well.

Question

You can do this directly in iTunes as well.

I buy a lot of my music from www.gomusicnow.com. They are incredibly cheap and in mp3 format. Itunes will not let me create a ringtone unless you purchased the song from itunes. Please share with me how this works with music purchased from other sites and in other formats. Thanking you in advance.
