I finally did it. My 4 and a half year old PB G4 will officially retire when my shiny new 15" MBP arrives hopefully early next week. I haven't broke the news to the G4 yet, I placed the order on my work machine so it has no way of knowing that I plan to replace it. I feel a little guilty about that, but I hope I can find it a good new home.
Anyway, on to the real question. I went to order an extra magsafe power adapter for the new MPB so that I can keep one in my bag and one on my desk, I had the same setup with the PB and it really helps cut down on the "oops, forgot the power" situation. However, I was struck by the amount of negative reviews of the magsafe adapters on the apple store. Namely, it seems they have a tendency to melt after a few months of normal usage. Some of these negative reviews posted are relatively resent, but regarding adapters that had been purchased a year ago. Does anyone know if this problem exists in current adapters, I would sure hope that Apple has addressed it by now.
Thanks!
