Two terrific movies.
I always liked Robert Redford, - both, as an actor, and, as a person - and am sorry to learn of his death.
most people did as well, thought his career was long.
he did a movie several years ago that was very okay,
The Old Man & the Gun was worth the time.
he was an extraordinary actor!
For me, it was the two movies in which he starred with Paul Newman, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and The Sting.
Also on my personal long/short list. He had a very impressive range as an actor.
Yes, agreed, he had.
However, the movies in which he appeared with Paul Newman somehow lifted them both to an even higher plane - to my mind, there was an almost perfect synergy with that particular partnership onscreen.
He was not mainstream Hollywood, which I admired and liked. He went his own way and was more concerned with artistry in film rather than making blockbusters. His movies were always good and worthwhile.
I use to mix him up with Paul Newman for some reason.
its been a bad few months with celeb deaths.. Ozzy, Kirk, Hatton & now Redford
Maybe one of his lesser known roles... still a favorite, though.
It's always a little sad when someone passes on, his 'body of work' leaves behind proof of a great career, and a life well lived. It also, and maybe this is a little selfish, allows one to indulge in rewatching, some of the great movies, that great acting talent like RR have been part of.
I've been re-watching The Twilight Zone a little this summer and watched that episode a few months ago. Redford's role was very good in the episode; I enjoyed it a lot.
