I've just bought a new mac pro (Early 2009). 2.66Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

I've downloaded Handbrake 64 Bit (Version 0.9.4 x86_64 (2009112300), when I went to rip some DVD's I see that at no point does Handbrake encode at 80fps, with the processor activity barley registering.

After talking to a techie friend, i've been told this is due to something called Riplock, and an issue with the manufacturer firmware that ships with the drive.

So my question is, does anyone know a way of removing the Riplock, so handbrake can speed up?

Below are the details of my drive:

HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GH41N:

Firmware Revision: PQ06
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media:
Type: DVD-ROM
Blank: No
Erasable: No
Overwritable: No
Appendable: No

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I was hoping someone would answer you here as I have the same question. This is something I would like to know too.
