Are there any other programs that will ripp/encode in the Apple Lossless format besides iTunes. I use iTunes for my music file management/playback and I want my music lossless. However I wish iTunes gave you more options for where files are saved and the naming syntax using. Many other ripping programs allow for all kinds of customized naming schemes and file destinations but they only ripp lossless in FLAC and SHN which iTunes won't playback. Does iTunes have any plans of supporting FLAC or SHN?

Quicktime should be able to do it.

There's an app for Windows called iTunesEncode which can use iTunes/QT to generate Apple Lossless and not place it in the iTunes library, so I presume something similar should be implementable in AppleScript.
