I did not check reviews for this company before I decided to just send them my iPad. I thoroughly regret that now! My iPad was sent to them in 100% impeccable and flawless. They refused to give me what I should have gotten for the iPad with it being in new condition instead, they sent me pictures of a device that had major scratches on the screen. This is a completely fraudulent company. Do not use them you will regret it. There is no recourse other than for them to send it back to you, which with their business practices, I would 100% expect them to send me one back that wasn’t mine or scratch up mine before they send it back. I’ve learned my lesson.

I seriously doubt they are just scratching people iPads so they can lowball you an offer. I’ve never dealt with them, but they seem to have a fairly decent rating when I did a Google search.

Did you record yourself packaging the item before you sent it? If you’re going to send something in for trade-in, you want to take good clear pictures of every part of it then make a video recording of you sealing it in the package. It’s the same thing when you sell something on eBay and the buyer says the item came in damaged. Maybe it did and maybe it was damaged in shipping.

I’ve heard similar stories about Apple’s iPhone trade in process through the mail. All it takes is one employee to do the wrong thing. I prefer in person trades if possible

Yes, I actually have pictures as I was boxing it up

I certainly have no idea what happened in your case, but I have sold to MacMeAnOffer (aka Mac of All Trades) probably 25-30 times over the last 10 years and have found them to be fair, efficient and an excellent dealer. Furthermore, they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The devices I've sold them are always "flawless," and they have never challenged my rating. They, and ItsWorthMore.com, are my go to vendors when I sell Apple gear.

The company is Mac of All Trades. Mac Me an Offer is just the web address they use for buying goods. And yes, they do have an A+ BBB rating.

There are bad reviews all over the Internet and forums. If others had good experiences, I would love to know how but they are clearly scamming me when you compare my photos and theirs.

I've also had good luck with SellYourMac. I'll have to check out ItsWorthMore. That one is new to me.

Mac Me an Offer has a B- rating on the BBB, not sure why you cut off the B- from your screen shot. Yes they're not accredited by the BBB but that in of itself doesn't mean its bad.

Googling provides a dearth of information. There's some really old reddit threads they seem somewhat positive. The AI response in google shows a mostly positive I don't think there's bad reviews all over the internet. There's not much info period.

Never trust the BBB for ratings or opinions on anything. It’s a paid service and their ratings are based on who pays them the most. CarShield has an A+ rating and is accredited.

I suspect this guy had a bad experience because some employee failed to do their job. You can have 1000 good experiences but one bad employee can ruin the customer experience for some.

I was thinking sinilarly. It could be something as innocent (and unfortunate) as a clerical error - where an assigned number/value attached to the photos is switched with another accidentally and per their record, moving forward, Ops unit is the scratched one and someone else is getting the higher assigned value.

I hope Op took a picture of some defining feature that will allow them to identify and differentiate their unit from the scratched one.

Yes, I have pictures and the serial number should be the differentiating factor as well. But it’s clear this company is not trustworthy. The first picture is mine as I was boxing it up and the second picture is the one they claim is mine as you can see they’re nowhere near the same quality I would not be upset if my iPad wasn’t in perfect shape, but it was.

The answer is to just use SellYourMac, operated by OWC. You’re already leaving hundreds on the table by using a service, so go with one that has reputation. I’d go with SYM even if CashForYourMac offered me $50 more.

Swappa is also a great choice. For higher-end items you will get more than the services, if you have a little patience.

My suggestion would be to email their purchasing department at the email address from which they sent your original offer. In your email include your purchase order number (from their original email offer) and include screenshot(s) of the metadata of the photo(s) you took of your iPad that show there was no screen damage. I suspect proving the photos were taken on the date you shipped the iPad might help in getting them to work with you.

What company, Apple? You didn’t look up Apple and now you feel like it was obvious that something like this would happen?
I’m confused. Why did you send it in in the first place?

Edit: not Apple, got it
