Ripping/Burning DVDs

I'm kinda new at all of this and I need some guidance. I have Mac the Ripper, Hnadbrake, and I just bought Toast 8. If I use mac the ripper to extract main disc extraction only, when I go to burn it in toast, I go to video_ts folder, i drag the folder into this screen, and i get an error message saying : cannot compress this file. I try to compress in handbrake, but the quality isn't great. Any advise?
