I want to rip CD's to my Retina Macbook Pro, which does not have a DVD Drive. I know I can use another PC's DVD drive wirelessly, but is there a way to use it to rip to iTunes? Or is my only option to rip using that PC, then copy it over?

Also, on my Windows PC, I try to rip CD's as ALAC, but it rips them as M4A. I have to rip as AIFF to get lossless. Anyone know why?

Oh okay, I thought it'd be .alac.

M4A (audio only) is often compressed using AAC encoding (lossy), but can also be in Apple Lossless format

I only read about the lossless version, good to know.
