Ripping DVD's -- merging titles

I have an unprotected DVD that was made of movies from my childhood. For some reason, they did each "scene" as a "title" instead of one big title with chapters. I want to rip these to watch on AppleTV, but I'd much rather one big movie with multiple chapters instead of titles.

Anyone know of a good way to rip the DVD to disk and in the process turn the titles into chapters of one big title?

You could rip the pieces then use Avidemux2's append feature to load them into the one big file to watch.
