Ars is reporting that SlySoft, the company that sold software for ripping DVD / BD has ceased operations. The website now displays a short message. Pity, has to be one of the most useful pieces of software I have. Will have to give makemkv a whirl, and hope it lasts....

I used to use AnyDVDHD, a lot. But when I went full tilt Mac, moved to MakeMKV which works great if you don't want to rip iso's and frankly, iso's are only really useful when menus were really needed to navigate to certain items or are wanting to "archive" a complete disc. Most of the time I just start the movie and watch it, then quit. So iso's were of minor import. I think I would have stayed with AnyDVD if they had made a Mac version.
