I picked some quick chargers off Temu and they seem to be working really well and were really cheap. Are third party chargers generally fine? I do feel like it drains faster after quick charging but it could be in my head; but that’s what spawned the thought / question

Yes, the charge is not as complete when charging fast vs slow. Normal.

The 3rd party “chargers” and all chargers are actually are just power supplies. The actual charger is built into every iPhone.
iPhone doesn’t care how powerful the power supply is. 100 watts or 10 watts — doesn’t matter.

There is always the question if the chargers are electrically safe however.
Are they going to come apart and electrocute someone? It does happen.
Do they have a thermal overload? Are they going to catch fire?
Are they going to short and damage your phone?
Are they going to use a ridiculous amount of electricity on standby?
Check what sort of certification they have- whatever the electrical norms are where you are. it should be stamped on it.
I tend to buy them from reputable companies as it isn't worth the risk for the price difference.

Back in old days of computing, power supply quality was pivotal to machine’s survival. A badly designed power supply could kill the machine easily. I think this still holds true today And would not charge My device with a $10 fast charger.

All iPhones since the iPhone 8 have supported the USB Power Delivery (PD) specification, even over Lightning. The entire idea behind USB-PD is that the device and the charger talk to each other so the charger delivers the correct amount of power to charge your device; that's why you can charge an iPhone or iPad off of a 16" MacBook Pro's 140W power brick.

Most 3rd party chargers from reputable brands like Anker, Belkin, etc. have good USB-PD implementations. Some of the cheap ones out there do as well, they won't damage your device but it won't stop the charger itself from potentially breaking or overheating.

In general, third-party chargers are fine, especially if you don't buy the extremely low cost chargers.

IKEA has a new lineup of USB-C chargers and teardowns show they're designed well with safety features.

30W for $7.99
45W for $14.99

Given these prices, you really don't need to take risk with unbranded chargers.

Is it true that a fast charger results in faster drain that day? What if you connected it to a fast charger all night long?

If so, it sounds ideal to use fast chargers near your desk, and slow chargers near the bed-side.

These temu chargers were like $3-5 lol. Probably being resolve on amazon for $15

I’ve got a 5w Belkin charger and a 25w Belkin fast charger along with braided lightning cables and they’ve lasted me 4 years and appear as good as new even today. I would never charge my expensive device with a TEMU/gas station quality charger.

It is just me but I would avoid Temu and stick with reputable chargers like Anker or Belkin. Going cheap on a charger may not harm your phone but why take a chance for a few bucks?

Counterintuitive but so far off brand cables have lasted me much longer than anker which tends to fall apart pretty quick. Not sure about safety though

It is your device, use what you want! You posted a question and got opinions. Use that "hidden power" to make your own choices! Cheap cables are worst than a cheap charger! I have never had an Apple cable go bad, ever. Say no to Temu!

Having a conversation doesn't mean I'm ignoring opinions. I'm asking for facts around these chargers and cables and am skeptical of them. But I do think they are mostly resold on amazon anyway. Nothing personal "jack be quickly" ;)

With past issues of non Apple made chargers, I am always skeptical.
Last time I used an Amazon knock off Magsafe 1 charge, the case started to crack and melt.

If I use a non Apple charger, I choose the ones that Apple sells like Belkin.
This is the Belkin I take when travelling - charges both mobile and laptop in one compact charger.

Oh wow, started a thread today with similar thoughts and didn't watch that there was one already. Should check in future.

I am staying slow. As slow as I can get. And all chargers I use are original Apple ones. I charge my mac with included 60w brick and cable and only when it is turned off to prevent excessive heating and enable "wait for 80%" function.

Same with iPhones, 5W charger from my old iPhone 5 charges 11 Pro and SE 3. As for the old iPad Air 2, I use Samsung 15W brick I bought for a good price and original Apple USB-C to Lightning cable that came with one of my devices.

Not using fast chargers because I want my battery life to stay as good as possible, I am not a fan of replacing batteries every year

I use third party chargers from Anker and Belkin. I bought Anker 735 with 65W. It is enough to charge my MacBook Pro 14" and iPhone simultaneously. As the charge speed decreases when I use two ports at a time, I connect the Macbook to the charger and iPhone to Macbook.
But, I would never buy a charger from Temu or other low price shops. Every year thousands of products from china are getting banned in Europe because of lack of quality. Chinese firms just change the name of the company and sending them again.
Once I bought a fast charger to use in my car to charge mobile directly from China. I was using a Volvo XC60 at that time. I had to replace fuses 3 times in a short period. I threw the charger away and never had to charge the fuse again. Afterwards I bought an adapter from a local shop, which is CE certified. Now I am using it on my third car. It still works.

People use chargers in different ways. Some are careful enough not to use while sleeping and many are charging their devices while sleeping. Chargers gets warm when the load is high. If it can't manage it, it can catch fire and can result catastrophic outcome.
