So my iphone had water damage, it won't boot up all the way: it makes it slightly past the apple logo, displaying my application icons and everything but then turns off and this is only if I plug it in. When not plugged in I just get the low battery display (red charge fragment in charge bar with a plug and lightning bolt under it) First I was wondering if someone could verify this that this is in fact, simply the battery not holding a charge?
If it is, which based on the research I've done sounds mostly consistent with other peoples' battery issues, since a water damage fix is considered out of warranty service with apple anyway, it wouldn't matter if I voided my warranty with disassembly, right? I'm considering just replacing the battery myself. The $6 to the $200 is very tempting. What I'm worried about is it not being that simple of a fix (I saw stuff about corrosion with water damage) and me ending up having to go to apple anyway. Would it matter that I broke the seal on the sticker inside, verifying I disassembled the phone if I want apple to fix the water damage?
