Does anyone know any good rm to mp3 audio converters for mac. Google was no help.

The only thing I know of is an app called Audio Hijack. You can use it to "hijack" an application (in your case, Real Player) and record the sound from the application. Audio Hijack saves to a .aiff format, which you could then theoretically convert to a .mp3.

it'll be lossy as hell as you'll be getting the lossyness of two different types of compression.

True, very true, if you must do it FFMPEGX with the real plugin should be able to do it.

you should really just re encode from source or consider piracy like a communal backup and get MP3 versions.
