So I'm thinking of grabbing a new macbook, as I recently sold my 2011 MBP and my only portable is a dell. I'm specifically attracted to the new macbook for the keyboard, as I'm not that into the old chiclet design.

The machine would mostly be used for day to day stuff: word processing / excel / web browsing. However, I am a musician who uses Logic to do 99% of my stuff, and would like to use the macbook to put down some sketches / small ideas when I'm away from my 8 core Mac Pro. I don't see myself editing large scores on the machine, nor do I see myself fine tuning large projects that began on my MP.

tl;dr: How would the battery life on the new macbook be using Logic Pro with a usb midi keyboard? Is the upgraded processor worth it? I use mainly software instruments and plugins (including some heavier instruments from Native Instruments' Komplete), has anyone run the logic benchmark on the rMB and seen what the laptop can run simultaneously?

Note: I've done little research into this, feel free to snarkily post links where all my questions are answered and then call me lazy / dumb / entitled. I will accept it graciously.
