Hi,

I read of lot of information about the new OSX update and 4k display but everyone talks about rMBP 15.

Does the 13 supports it @60hz ? If not, I suppose it's because of the Iris Pro of the 15in model ?

I was going to buy the 13in but now I see this...and the price of the 15in is way too high for me :(

thanks

13" doesn't support it officially at 60 hz. I've heard that it can do something between 30-60 hz. Apparently, some 4k monitors let you plug in two video-in and then it tricks the computer into thinking each of half the monitor is a separate screen. That is apparently the workaround to get it to work at 60 hz.

You can get 52 Hz at 4K with on the 13 inch over SST, 60 Hz if you use two separate panels. 52 Hz looks pretty good!

Is there a difference between 52 Hz and 60 Hz? Will you be able to notice a difference when browsing the web, youtube, etc.

There is a difference, but it is not too noticeable. For normal work, photo editing, browsing, 52Hz is fine in my opinion. 60Hz feels buttery smooth, 52 Hz feels ALMOST that smooth, and I find 30Hz kind of unbearable.

Hope that helps! I'd rather have the extra portability of the 13 inch than the extra 8Hz when I'm using 4K!
