Hi, I am thinking about buying a refurbished 13" rMBP 2.6GHz, dual core i5, 8gb ram, 516 flash storage. Can any one enlighten me on the difference between the Oct. 2013 and the July 2014 models beside the 2013 being $40 cheaper. Will one be more problematic than the other (flaking screen, faster FD)? I plan on using the lap top for web browsing/streaming, light photo editing, storage for music and movies. Basically this will be my main computer.
I originally though about buying MB 12" but the 13" rMBP looks to be a better deal. I currently have a mid 2009 13"mbp.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the difference is only $40, then there is some spec difference in terms of SSD size, ram capacity etc.

If the specs are the same (ram/storage) you should of course go with the 2014 model if its only 40 bucks more.

Get the 2014. Ever so slightly faster and will be easier to resell down the road as it is newer.

The Late 2013 and Mid-2014 were the same Haswell design; just a clock uptick on the one you're considering (2.8 GHz for the Mid-2014 vs. 2.6 GHz for the Late 2013).

I am thinking the 2014 is the better bet. I just want to make sure I'm not going to run into any major issues down the road. My 2009 MPB is a good lap top but I need to update. Thanks all!
