I finally received my late 2013 rMBP (2.6ghz/16gb/256gb). It has been years since i've really used a Mac (a 12" G4 Powerbook that was last used ~2010). I have a couple of questions regarding external monitor usage and the lidwake command that i previously used:

1. lidwake 0 setting doesn't work: I like being able to sleep my computer and being able to open the lid without the computer waking again. i had previously used the terminal command "sudo pmset lidwake 0," however the computer does not respect this setting as the computer stills wakes when the screen is opened after being put to sleep.

2. macbook sleeps when external display disconnected/switched off: my intended usage is to have my rMBP connected via HDMI to my monitor and being controlled via a software/virtual KVM (synergy). this monitor has multiple inputs and thus also drives my Windows PC as well via a DVI input, which serves as the host/server for keyboard and mouse in Synergy. i like to switch between the computers by hitting the input selection button on my monitor. However, I have noticed that if I switch away from the HDMI input, my macbook will enter sleep mode and needs to wake from sleep manually (right now i have an additional mouse physically connected to the MBP).

Solutions? Thanks.
